Computer won't power up

I built this computer in 2004. It's got a Intel Pentium 4 2.8 processor. It used to just shut off kinda randomly. Sometimes it would stay on for hours and sometimes it would not even make it into windows. When it shuts off I have to wait about a minute to turn it back on or it would turn on and then a second later turn back off. Most of the time when it did shut off I had quite a few tabs running on Internet Explorer or Firefox. I put a new power supply in it because one of the pins on the 12V (4 pin) connector was brown looking like it was burnt out or something. When I switched the power supply it powered on like it did before, but then when it got into Windows it, while it was loading up the startup stuff, turned back off. Now it won't even turn on at all. The light on the motherboard is on saying it has power to it. When I hit the switch to turn on the computer, nothing happens. Thanks for any help. I tried to explain everything the best that I could.

I've put a different motherboard that I had in the computer also. First was the Gigabyte one and now I have a Intel one in it. It didn't help. Still nothing.

Does the MOBO has a 4 Pin ATX connector? (I don't think so but just in case) if yes do you have it connected? other then that try umpluging anything else from the board and and have only the connector going to the MOBO. If nothing, you may want to get a new PSU or your MOBO is dead.

good luck
