Computer Won't Start Up - Wierd Beeping Noise

Well, the other day when I was on my parents computer I accidentally kicked it and all of a sudden it started to make a long continous beeping noise and froze. Now, whenever we try to start it up it just makes a long continous beeping noise and will stop at the startup steps. So, does anyone know what might be wrong?

Thank you.

Sounds to me like you may need to check and see if there is a wire that may have pulled out. dont think I have ever heard a "beeping" noise like you said.

By accidentally, you mean purposly? Anyway - definately check the wires as that is the simplest thing to check for. Where specifically does it stop? Do you see the Windows Logo? Do you see the Manufacturers logo? Can you get into Safe Mode? Be a bit more specific.

I had the same problem before, it was because too much dust on fan, and stuff..try to restart your computer a couple of times , it should work..also get a dust cleaner

Check the memory and video card. Make sure they are securely clipped into thier slots then reset the BIOS. (Either remove the battery for about 10 seconds or move the little jumper over 1 spot, then back, again, 10 seconds)

the beeping noise is probably telling you something get a manual of your motherboard and it should tell you what the beeps mean

Long beeps are usally memory related, but yeah, look around for a beep code list. Most computers follow a standard and you should be able to tell exactly what the problem is...

The same thing happens to me, but after about 30 seconds it starts to work.

Check to see if you equipmnt is dusty, and if it is then clean it.

I'll bet you won't kick it again, although I can understand the urge. You probably unseated something and you righted it while cleaning. I'm glad you had a happy ending because hard disks don't like a lot of percussion.
