I have an hp pavilion a6500f. The other day I went to turn it on and it had power everything came on, but the screen was black. It said there was no connections. Ive already tried unplugging everything, trying a different monitor, trying a graphics card, but nothing works. What is this and how do I fix it?

So you unhooked the hard drive temporarily? Tried only 1 stick of memory? The next step would be to reset the cmos.

Remove power from the power supply, remove cmos battery from the motherboard, press the power button on the case a few times to discharge any remaining power, then wait 5 minutes. Then reinsert battery and reconnect power and try booting up.

As an addition to the above steps, with the power unplugged take our your RAM and hold the power button for about 15 seconds. This has worked on many computers I've dealt with so it may help you.

no, i had a similar issue a while back were everything turned all the way up (the fans) and nothing came up, only diff was mine worked after a few tries or i could un and replug the power then it worked, idk why but it was the psu.

Reformat

If everything else fails reformat to see if it is a software issue. To back up data try plugging into an external display.:(

From what OP said it looks like hes not even seeing POST, which rules out software because if it were windows we'd have visual between power-on and when windows takes over.

Since you've tried all the above troubleshooting steps I would suspect mobo failure. The only other thing I could suggest is removing and reseating the CPU, checking to see if there are any bent pins.

At that point not really. Try the reset CMOS jumper to attempt to get some life but if no bios comes up through an integrated graphics card the mobo is indeed bad.
