Computer Won't Start

Hey I have a problem.

I recently upgraded my harddrive and added a wireless network card.

My computer was working yesterday morning, yet when I got home from school, I pressed the power button, and nothing happened.

Following various troubleshooting guides, I disconected everything (sound/video, hard drives, etc) besides the power to the motherboard, yet still nothing. No fans, no beeps, the computer doesn't even respond in any shape or form.

The only indicator that anything is happening, is a little green light on my motherboard when the power is connected.

My computer specs are (well should) be in my signature.

I'm curious if the motherboard is useless (well if I find a use for a small green LED light that needs a 350W powersupply, I guess it's not so useless)

Any suggestions.
(Testing the motherboard/power supply in another computer is not an option for myself)

look it the cable of the power swich is propperly connected (so no broken wire)
and see if the swich itself isnt broken (so that is actually makes contact when you push it)
if you cant test the swich, try shorting the 2 pinns the swich is connected to. you can use a screwdrive for that.. But only touch the 2 pinns of the power swich if you do this!!

Off to buy a new motherboard I guess.

I did get a chance to try out the power supply and the motherboard in another computer, and both failed to work.

I got zero response trying to short the power switch, even using paperclips, knives, a screwdriver, etc

Really hope my RAM/CPU/Video/Sound/Wireless are okay though

Yes, and there's been no rain or whatever in the time I was using it.

I left it on all night downloading some torrents (it was a few days after I installed my wireless card), and shut down as I went to school. Not 5 hours later I come home and it doesn't even turn on.

Oh well...reason to "upgrade" I suppose.

can you tell me exacly what you have tried so far?
like: swiched PSU, nothing happened.
swich Mobo, and putted the old PSU back in, nothing happened and so on.
might sound a bit stupid.. but that really helps figuring out whats wrong ;)

- My power supply on another motherboard - other board wouldn't start
- Another power supply on my motherboard - my board wouldn't start

No burning anywhere, and no frayed wires or anything like that.

I don't really care as I snapped the board in two already so there's no point in discussing it further.

Hey short the mobo bios. i.e remove the battery, remove smps power supply from the mobo. hold the batery and short + - point for 15 seconds and swith on the same on a diffent plug point. If doesn't start then remove the mobo from the cabinet and short the + - capacitors (i.e discharge it) and swith on. try this it will work.
