Connect 2 PCs with a firewire cable

Hi, I read a few online manuals about connecting 2 PCs with a firewire cable but I'm still having problems. I changed PC A ip address of the firewire network connection to 192.168.0.1 and the subset mask to 255.255.255.0 (it gives me the 0 automatically at the end) and PC B to 192.168.0.2 with the same subset mask. On the network connections it says that the firewire connection is connected on both PCs. I then go to My Network Connections and try to add a new network connection. (I have already established a folder on each computer with sharing privileges) I go under workgroup and on PC A I don't see the other computer but I see PC A's shared folders. On PC B, I see PC A's name but no folders and PC B's shared folders. Can somebody please help me out with this?

Ok, a simple restart fixed the problem, lol. Does anyone know how to connect a Mac to PC? I've been trying but no go. I essentially get the same error on the PC as I was getting before when I was trying to hook up 2 PCs. The computer name pops up but nothing else.
