connect laptop to tv

Hi I want to connect my lapotp to my tv to extend my desktop over to it. I went to my powerhouse and was told i'd need a cable from sv outport on laptop to port on tv where antenne is plugged in and a seperate one from laptop headphone to tv red and white. Is that correct as they said there was no other way.

do you have s-video. most laptops now have a s-video out

in user book it shows s video (tv out) port, would that just be what i use?

yeah, just get a s-video cable and hook it to the s-video on your tv. the image will not be the best but it will work

ok thanks. So i need the svideo to s video on tv, do i also need the cable going from headphone jack to yellow, white on tv like they said?

if you want sound, yes. its a 3.5 jack to component i think. but it is head phone to red and white
