connecting a laptop through a desktop

Hi, I have a laptop, with no wireless networking card and a destop with a wireless networking card. Is it posible to somehow string an ethernet cord from the desktop (that has an internet connection) to the ethernet port on the laptop and gain internet access? If it is possible what could I do? I have already expierimented with bridges, gateways and internet connection sharing but no luck in connecting to the internet. Any help is appreciated, Thanks.
 
not sure about that, but you'd have to start with a crossover cable (NOT THE SAME AS STANDARD ETHERNET CABLE) and work your way from there.
 
you wold also need to setup internet connection sharing through the desktop, not sure how well it works. I just use broadband to a router to all my PC's and laptops in my house.
