Connecting a PC and Laptop using using cross cables

Hello Sirs here,

I want to connect my PC and laptop (both having XP service pack 2) for file sharing using a cross connected cable. Both have ethernet cards. PC has Norton 2003 and Laptop has Norton Interenet security 2006.I am a novice.

1. Pls tell me in detail how to do that.

2. Pls give an example IP, subnet mask for both PCs along with other settings if necessary.

Pls explain in detail

Start > Run > Netsetup > ok
Follow the prompts

note: no IPs required
You should be given an automatic exception by your Norton Firewall to finalize this

Good luck, generally its very easy, although the only obstacle here is the fact you have horrible (IMO) Norton installed
