Hey all,
I have been using PCs for years, but I recently bought a Mac Pro for editing. The 2 computers I have are:
Mac Pro early 2008 with Leopard.
Vista PC
I have my modem and router downstairs as it is needed to run the internet to downstairs for gaming, as well as other PCs in the house. I have 1 ethernet cable running through the ceiling, coming up into my room where my PC has been for years. Since I just got the mac computer. I've only ever needed the one ethernet cables running upstairs into my room for my PC.
Instead of moving the router and modem upstairs, or drilling another hole in the ceiling to run a second ethernet cable. Is there an easier solution for this?
My Mac Pro has 2 ethernet ports on the back, my PC has 1. I tried connecting the ethernet cable to the port on the back of the mac and anther from the second port of the mac then going into the PC, but it didn't work.
I'd like to bring my PS3 up to my room as well so I'd need another 2 ethernet cables.
If I buy a network switch with 5 ports, and use that in my room, will it work to split the one cable in my room to 3? I'd like to have internet on all 3, my PC, Mac and PS3.
THANKS IN ADVANCE!
