connecting motherboard to system case

I recently installed a new motherboard to a system case and regarding the case connectors such as the power switch and the reset switch. I was wondering if it matters which way round they go on the pins.

If not, how do i know which way round to put them. As my motherboard is not color co-ordinated to the cables. The motherboard manuel does give instructions on where they go but im not sure which way round is the right way. For example , it shows the power switch (PWRSW) it points to the 2 pins and lables one as pwr and the other as ground the cable itself has 1 white and one blue wire, which one goes to which? i have the same problem with all the other case cables. The cables being various colors.
Also the motherboard only has 1 IDE connector and 4 SATA connectors, the motherboard does support an IDE harddrive and i only have an IDE harddrive insted of a SATA so where do i plug in my optical drives, which also have an IDE connector in place. Would the only option i have be to plug the optical the drive into the IDE connector availible? and to buy a SATA harddrive or would there be a way to use both IDE devices (hardrive and optical drive on the single IDE connector).
This is the motherboard i have:

On the case connectors, usually the color is the positive and the white is the negative. The easiest way to tell if its on backwards is if the hdd light doesn't come on or the power light don't come on. Then all you have to do is reverse it. If you only have 1 IDE connector then you either have to get SATA hard drives or you will have to buy an IDE addin card to run your optical drives or hard drive.

If you look very closely at the connectors, you'll see a small arrow head molded in to the connector. This is positive (+).

Thanks for the responses. Another question though, I know that you can use 2 harddriives on one IDE slot, when the cable has 2 connectors at the other end but can the same be done with 1 harddrive and 1 optical drive?

Thanks again
