Connecting PC to TV problems

I connected my laptop to my 26" HDTV through HDMI. I made sure to change the resolution to the TV's native resolution at 1366x768, but the desktop stretches out of the screen (see image below). It does this with every resolution I try. Anyone know why this is happening? Once I change the resolution to 1366x768, it should just work.

The term for that is overscan. Older CRT style TVs would do this since the image would essentially move depending on the brightness and such. Most video editing programs have "safe areas" showing places were you shouldn't place titles and such or they might hang off the screen. This is a common problem with HDTV's so I'm assuming they cut off some of the screen to hide what normally would be hidden/should be hidden.

Does the TV perhaps have a HDMI/DVI(computer) mode? Maybe it shows more of the screen if it knows it's a PC input? I also happened to see this regarding an nvidia card.

Alright, so I tried VGA (since my TV has a PC/VGA mode) and it seems to be working although the desktop is offset a little. Looks like I would just need to move the desktop over and up a tad.

For some reason though, I lost audio, and yes I have the audio connected separately using RCA, but I lost audio when I stopped using HDMI and started using VGA.
