Hi, Is it possible to connect a router, to a router to get more ports?

I am going to have 4 or 5 other friends over for a lan partay (Were true nerds, but cant have more fun!) I currently have a 4 port wired net gear router with optimum online fiber-optic internet. Do I HAVE to get a 8 port router? Maybe somone can link me to a cheap, quality wired router with more than 4 ports? That would be appreciated! The cheapest i can find is a $120 8port!

Thanks!

It should be it depends on what settings the routers have. Linksys routers have an option to change the router from routing mode to switching.

It would probably be cheaper to buy a switch.

yes, most routers will let you link them together (daisy chaining).

usually a router will have an Uplink port which can be used to connect one router to the WAN port of the next router down the line. if theres no Uplink port, then port 1 is often used.

Im going to have 12 people, including me. That router will be fine with a 30/5mbit connection? right?

If it is a LAN game and not through the servers like STEAM, then it doesnt matter what your download speed is... It is all self contained in the LAN.
