Connecting S-Video from Video card to TV

I have a Radeon 9550 card on an HP Pavillion with XP SP2 freshly installed.

When I connect it to my TV through an S-Video cable, I get the image on the TV, but no sound. I am using the TV as an extension to my desktop so that my family can watch our videos on the TV, while I still having the option of working on the PC.

Right now I hear the sound on the PC speakers, but I want to hear it through the TV speakers so that the volume can be controlled using the remote control for the TV.

I have looked on the ATI Control Center software that came with the card and I can't find anything about this issue.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

S-video only transfers video AFAIK. I don't know of any other way to transfer audio from the PC to the TV unless you used a VGA like connector that transfered both audio and Video.

You can buy a really nice set of Spdif speakers if you have the connectors on the back of your motherboard.. And if they could stretch...

yup they are both right

you'll need a cheap mini stereo out to RCA audio cable and a splitter if you want to run audio to both your speakers and your TV.

I bought my cable for like 7 dollars at a local computer store.

Thanks everyone. I don't know why I thought that S-video could also do sound. I ended up buying a splitter and then an adapter for the RCA audio cable. All is good now. Thanks.
