hey guys. im at my friends house for the weekend and i brought my computer with me so that i can play games, etc. but im here by myself and his network is WEP protected and he doesnt remember the password. so i was wondering if there is a way to find it out.

p.s i am runnig Vista, he is running xp. idk if this makes a difference

If he doesn't remember the password then he will have to do a hard reset on the router so that it will set everything back to default when he first bought it. Look either in the routers manual or online for how to do the hard reset.

my guess it would be unplug the powersupply from the router.

there should be a small hole (use a ink pen or paper clip) and push the reset button. this should reset back to defaults.

then use admin for the password. thats the default. then you can authorize wireless login and encryption.

try admin 1st. maybe he never changed it. if that was the case make sure to change it. every geek hacker on the planet knows the default password.
