Connecting to wifi

Hi,

I'm trying to add a PC to my office WIFI. It's an old computer running XP. I put in the Dlink Xtreme DSM-G520 PCI adapter and have installed the latest drivers. I find the network and type in the password nothing happens. All the other computers (macs) in the office are connected so it's not a problem with the modem. Initially when trying to enter the password I got an error saying:

'The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your
network configuration. This can be entered as 5 or 13 ascii characters or
10 or 26 hexadecimal characters'

I messed around a bit and the error disapeared but now when I click connect nothing happens. I can connect to the bt openzone nearby so it's not a problem with the hardware.

Please advise.

Thanks

Delete the existing wireless connection for the network on the XP machine. Then reset it back up, but this time make sure you enter the correct security key. Access the router to verify what the security key is.

Thanks for responding. I have tried that too and it didn't work :-s

hi...try to open the menu or internet connections, there should be a n option for wireless that you can click.your computer will search for wireless connections and you will be offered a list of options..then find the connection in the list for the location that you are at.once you click it you will be connected.

Are you sure your connecting to the right AP? It sounds like its attempting to connect to a WEP protected network when a office AP will generally have WPA as the security measure.
