I'm trying to connect two win xp pro machines directly (with crossover cable).
I connected them, I can ping one from another, but I can't access shared folders.
At first when I tried to access the other computer (from my network places) window popped out requiring username and password.
Accounts on my both machines don't have any password, but I couldn't connect to the other machine without a password.
Then I've read that win xp by default doesn't allow you to connect to if account doesn't have a password and if you want to allow that you need to go to
Administrative Tools->Local Security Policy->Security options and then set "Account:Limit local account use of blank passwords to console logon only" to disabled.
So I did that on both computers and I can connect from first to the second machine only with username, but when I try to connect from the second one it still wouldn't allow me without a password.
