connecting two computers

Hi
I am running a home pc with Windows xp home with a Broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated controller network card installed(according to device manager this device is working properly)
I want to connect this computer to a HP T5700 thin client which has windows xp pro embeded (network card is also installed)
I have connected the two computers with a crossover cable but am having trouble setting up the network.
When I go into the Properties section of Lan connection in Network connections the following are installed

Client for Microsoft Networks
Files and Printer sharing for Microsoft network
QoS Packet scheduler
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
when I try to add the client the following error message appears

Select Drive

Windows was unable to find any drivers for this device
If you have a disk that contains the updated driver,or wish to search in another location,click Ok

What do I do next?

Any help is greatly appreciated

What client are you trying to add? The just of a network running through a crossover cable is to have your default gateway setup to be the computer that is connected to your modem. for example:

computer1:

ip address: x.x.x.x
subnet mask: x.x.x.x
default gateway: x.x.x.x

primary dns: x.x.x.x
secondary dns: x.x.x.x

If you have no router, then your ISP will have probided this information for you.

Second PC:

IP address: x.x.x.x
subnet mask: x.x.x.x
default gateway: this is where you insert the IP address of your first PC that is connected to the modem.

Leave your primary and secondary dns fields blank here
