Hello All....

I've just ordered a HP wireless printer but am a little unsure about connecting it to my PC's and could do with a little advice if someone could be so kind?

I have a desktop PC with ethernet cable connection to BT home hub, my other computer is a wifi enabled Compaq notebook which I wish to connect to the printer via wifi

When I setup the printer out of the box am I right in thinking I connect the printer to the home hub via ethernet cable, then search for my notebook using wifi?

The printer is a: HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One Printer - C309g

I had a look at the manual but it didnt really clarify this for me: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01856402.pdf

Can I use ethernet and wireless connection together / at same time?

Thanks

you can have both. i have a cat5 and wireless on HP Designjet 110 Plus. one is hooked to the cat cable (direct connection and other wireless. wireless is the netbook. All others i have to share with my connection cat 5. (share my printer). BUT the computer has to be on. you have to network to share. printer, drives and 2nd printer etc. even a scanner and nikon coolscan.

record:
to net work, create same workgroup on all computers same name. (all). computername on all. (yours, mine). etc.that will get ya started.

thanks, so would i connect the desktop via ethernet 1st, then just search for the notebook? sorry just find this a little confusing:confused:

You will have to use the install cd on your laptop to install the printer. The cd must be used on every pc that wants to print to the printer. Just follow the prompts and set the laptop to use wireless or network printer depending on hp's setup.

I have the same printer, what i did is connect the printer wirelessly to the router and all computers connected to the router will be able to use the printer either with wire or wireless.

You could end up with a "Strange Printer Setup" like me with a connection to the WSD port and TCP/IP ports, with two printer icon that no one seems to know much about.
(see my post in Operating System)
Sorry I cannot seem to link to that post

I have the HP C310a. I connected my desktop to my router so the printer will recognize it. Thus no need for a USB or ethernet. By the way I've been very impressed with this printer. The eprint is a nice feature.
