Connecting Xbox 360 to monitor

I bought a HDMI cable to connect my Xbox 360 to my monitor. It works great, except for the fact that there is no sound for my games. Does anyone know how I can get sound? Or is it not possible?

Are you using one of those game console adapters, thats green on one end, and has the two red and white audio inputs on the other.
 
O, sorry. The plug into the comp is green, and the other end is embedded into the speaker, then a wire connects the 2 speakers, and then a power cord on the opposite speaker
 
I use the VGA connector, and I just plug them into the little module it came with, and connect headphones or speakers.
