Connection Problems..Please help!!

I am having major issues getting my desktop to connect to the internet. I recently moved and when I packed away my hard drive, it was working fine and connecting to the net with no problems at all. After setting it all up here at my new home, all works fine, but it will not connect to the net. I am connecting with a cable modem thru comcast and when I plug the same line into my wife's laptop...what I am using right now...it has no problems at all. So, it has to be something with my comp and due to the move. Any ideas what I need to check to resolve this issue? If you need to ask me questions to better answer mine, please do so. I really would like to get this issue solved. Thank you very much in advance.

AEKDB to those who know

So are you running a wireless router or router of any sort or are all devices connecting directly to the box comcast provided for you? Also, what sort of setup did you have at your old house, did you have comcast there too or did you have something different?

what happens when you connect your pc ( i assume w/ a lan cable)
then
1. click start
2. then run
3. then type cmd
4. hit enter
5. type ipconfig/release
wait for results
6. type ipconfig/renew
