Connection problems with network, need help

I recently started having more and more connection problems with my network at home. I have one pc connected with cables and then 3 laptops using wireless. It's a DSL(pppoe) connection. Now the connection seems to drop when two or more laptops are being used at the same time on the network. Then for a good two hours I am unable to connect back. I called my ISP and they said the modem is fine, so that rules that out. I tried two different routers and the outcome is the same. Is there anything else I could check? I'm really running out of solutions :( Please help.
 
might be an ip conflict you should assign each device a static ip address
to do this
on your pc goto start>run>type cmd>type ipconfig/all
take a note of your
ip address (probably 192.168.0.2)
subnet mask (255.255.255.0)
default gateway(192.168.0.1)
dns (192.168.0.1)


go to network connections right click on your connection then properties and in the scroll box goto tcp/ip settings and click use the following ip

type in what you wrote down as above
then for each laptop


go to network connections right click on your connection then properties and in the scroll box goto tcp/ip settings and click use the following ip

type in the same details as before with the exception of the ip address make the following change

assuming your pc ip is 192.168.0.2
laptop 1 ip will be 192.168.0.3
laptop 2 192.168.0.4
laptop 3 192.168.0.5

all other settings must be exactly as you wrote down before
 
I would just reset the router and start from scratch again. Then if the problem happens again you will know it's the router.

There is a reset button on your router that you would have to push in with like a pen or something small. Hold this button in for like a 10 seconds. This will reset it just like you got it from the store (no password, no security, anybody could connect).

Then I would start troubleshooting from there. If everything is working fine then I would start tighten up security.

Or you might have to flushdns and delete the arp table.

See about resetting first
 
I will give that a try next time the connection dies DJY and report on how it went.

Fins I tried a different router and the problem persisted. I tried resetting the routers also but to no avail. The connection works for some time and then just dies.

Thanks for the help guys, hopefully assigning the ips will work.
