im goin to purchase:
amd athlon 5000+ dual
asus m2n32-sli deluxe am2 motherboard
gerforce 7900gt ddr2 512 mb video card
Corsair Value Select 2G kit 667mhz
western digital 320 gb 16mb cache sata2
pioneer 111D 16x dual layer dvdrw
Thermaltake Soprano black midi tower case 430W
BenQ FP202W 20" LCD Monitor
logitech z-230 speakers
MS k/b and mouse
card reader and floppy drive

My only worry is that the Corsair isnt good enough.
Should I go for a Corsair XMS3200 2GB?
 
You do realise that the Corsair XMS3200 is DDR memory, not DDR2 which your rig requires. Something like this is what you should be looking at instead.

yea, and the 7900gt has gddr3 not ddr2 memory on it... and how much is that card? for how much the 7900gt 512mb costs you may as well upgrade to a 7900gtx... but i'd probably rather get an x1000 series card like the x1800xt or the x1900xtx just because they're better in my opinion... they have more features and support more technologys that no nvidia card can support... for example avivo video converter which is ATI technology... or full screen anti-aliasing with high dynamic range... nvidia cards cant render such features into a picture all at once... not for lack of speed but because of architecture flaws...

with such a high end card i often find myself trying to use my 7900gtx's antialiasing feature to get rid of the boxy corners and it turns off the bright and beautiful high dynamic range on me, and i want both since the card cost $465... (though somewhat cheaper now) i mean really... lot of money and i didn't get everything i wanted.
 
The 7900GT is $559, whereas the 7900GTW would be $750-$800(beyond budget)

Is the Corsair Value Select 2G kit 667mhz still good? Or should I get better?
I don't plan on Over-clocking.

The 1900 perhaps but definitively not so for the 1800. That and we all might as well wait a week (less than) for the X1950

If you have to ask, it's pretty safe you'll be ok with it :) (and it'll serve you fine :))

they have more features and support more technologys that no nvidia card can support...

Well in nVidia's defence, ATi cards cant do FP16 filtering and blending.
