I'm considering getting a new desktop. If I get a desktop with a blu ray drive, and add a monitor that is 3D ready (considering something like dell optx aw2310) do I need a specific blu ray drive to work along with it? Or will the normal blu ray that comes with the desktop work?
I've seen some good deals on systems without a monitor, then just add on the 3D ready monitor. Trying to get a better price.

best option is to build the computer, better selection, better performance, cooler looks, and costs less to boot, and for the sctual question, the drive is a drive, the graphics card is what does the 3d stuff, whuch any i3/5/7 should be fine, as for other processors it goes tho the motherboard so we'd have to see the page for the comp, but it should be fine, but again, you can build a 100+ buck comp for like 700 and get way better quality and a better graphics card.

I think you mean 1000+ dollar.

either way, yes, build one. Phenom iix2/Zambezi or SB+ should be fine for 3d as long as you have a 3d monitor and a Nvidia 3d capable card. I think GT540 or higher is capable.
