Today I needed to reboot my computer because a program froze. It got to the windows xp screen where the blue thing is scrolling across and then it just rebooted without warning. Now no matter what i do i cannot get it to go past that without rebooting. I have absolutely no idea what i should do.
I was thinking it may be the motherboard's last death rattle but it still beeps when the computer restarts.
The motherboard (AsRock P4VM8), processor (Intel Celeron 2.4GhZ) and dvd burner are about two years old but everything else is brand new.
Its not a fan problem because there is no overheating going on and i've given everything a clean so there's no chance its just dust.
Please help me!! Do I need a new motherboard???

when i got the new hard drives i put a completely new windows installation onto one and wiped the old one to use for data storage. I am almost certain that it isn't a HDD problem.
I tried again with a psu that i know works but i still had the same problem.

huh, possible heating issue maybe??
what are your temps reading

Im trying to think of everything before we say "motherboard"

have you tried a fresh install?

can you boot into a linux livecd without trouble? that should stress the cpu enough for any heat issue to show up

I am having a very similar problem. Only now the computer only stays on for a matter of seconds.

Specs
amd athlon 64 x2 5200 am2
asus m2n-sli deluxe mb
codegen 550w power supply
X2 nvidia gforce 7600 gts
X3 1gb ddr2 667 pc5300 generic
320 gb hdd seagate sata

I just installed a fresh copy of xp pro with no service packs. Nothing on the hdd except c&c 3. It use to stay on for about an hour or so and then just turn off. Now it will sometime stay on long enough for me to see the desktop for a second. I though it was overheating but ruled that out. I am so lost. If I left something out let me know and I will add the info

Constant Reboot

Your PC has could have something known as the "BSOD" Blue screen of death if the screen suddenly turns blue when it restarts. This is probably caused by a virus or a recent hardware/ Software change.

Hope this helps!

Nice, or they could just post and question and answer it since you didn't even address the problem correctly. Your "solution" is extremely poor also.
