The system is shutting down. Please save all works in progress and log off, any unsaved changes will be lost. The shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY SYSTEM

:59 until shutdown

Message:
Windows must now restart because the DCOM server process launcher service terminated unexpectedly

This happens every time we turn the laptop on and i dont know what to do... PLEASE HELP

Can you get into safe mode?

If not do a XP Repair install

Please read carefully

1. Boot the computer using the XP CD. You may need to change the boot order in the system BIOS so the CD boots before the hard drive. Check your system documentation for steps to access the BIOS and change the boot order.
2. When you see the "Welcome To Setup" screen, you will see the options below

This portion of the Setup program prepares Microsoft
Windows XP to run on your computer:

To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER.

To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R.

To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.
3. Press Enter to start the Windows Setup.

To setup Windows XP now and Repair Install , press ENTER. do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R", (you Do Not want to load Recovery Console). I repeat, do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R".
4. Accept the License Agreement and Windows will search for existing Windows installations.
5. Select the XP installation you want to repair from the list and press R to start the repair. If Repair is not one of the options, END setup. After the reboot
6. Setup will copy the necessary files to the hard drive and reboot. Do not press any key to boot from CD when the message appears. Setup will continue as if it were doing a clean install, but your applications and settings will remain intact.

Or you could try running SFC /scannow from the run box in start menu (have your disk handy) plus you may need to reinstall updates afterwards too!!

i can indeed get into safe mode... the only problem is that i have no Windows disk that i know of... is there some other way i can do it without having to use a CD... like a HJT and you guys could tell me what needs to be deleted?

TBH I wouldn't know where to START with a HJT log lol, however if you can get hold of a Win XP disc for your system, it will certainly no doubt come in handy for future use.

Any local PC repair shop would probably burn you one off if you ask nicely(after all - it's the product key that you pay for when you buy Windows)

As for preventing the shutdown counter-

Try going START>RUN>Type "shutdown - a"(no Quotes) and see if that stops the counter to enable you to check your system for a possible Blaster32/Sasser Worm infection. ;)
