Convert windows movie file. HELP!!

My girlfriend made a slideshow in windows movie maker for her grandparents as a christmas present. Last night I got it saved to a dvd using the publish movie setting but when I tried to play it in the dvd player it wouldnt work. Is there a program out there that will convert the movie maker file into a format a dvd player can read?

im not familar with the program she used.
what file format was used? vcd, wma?

Use Photo Story 3. It's MUCH easier. Then, when you've made all the pictures it will convert it to a .WMV format which Windows will burn to a DVD no problem.

Ill keep that in mind for next time, bad news is that this is for Christmas Eve tonight! :0 so no time to redo it in a different program. I realized that WMM will let you save the movie to your computer as a NTS DVD-I (?) file then burn it using roxio or another program. I just worried if its going to burn right because the file said it was gonn be 8gigs! Hopefully Roxio will compress it.
