Converted slave drive missing personal files...wtf?

I recently swapped my girlfriends IDE desktop hard drive from her old Compaq computer so she would have access to her old personal files (jpgs, mp3, etc) Next, I re-installed it as a Slave drive in her newer E-machine. Two hard drives now. I removed the jumper as per a website's instructions to make this make and model drive a slave. It re-installed fine, the drive was identified as "E." and appears just fine.

The problem is you can only view the old windows files on this slave drive. All of her personal files are missing.....or just not visible as I suspect.

What did I do wrong here? Any thoughts or suggestions?

I'd start the PC in safe mode as an administrator and check to see if you need to take possession of the drive's files by changing the user name and/or other attributes.

I was thinking even if the folders were protected, you could still see them... Something else to check is to make sure the files aren't hidden, or that the computer's set to show hidden files. This can be set in Control Panel > Folder Options.

Another great Idea....I havent had a chance to try any of these ideas yet....I will report back the results.

Also, regarding the old Windows files on the slave drive; could I simply delete them since the active windows XP is running from the master disk?

E:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents

What folders do you see exactly, when you click on your E: drive?

Fixed! The answer was done by going into safe mode and changing the security /permission settings for the drive.

Thanks to all....
