hi guys, is there any chance you could advise me on a good dvd burrning setup?

i dont mind using all different programs, i was using "cucusoft dvdshrink and 1 click"

i am not doing this to sell illegal copys but for my own use i could plug my tv into pc but i would rather have films on dvd disk

thanx for your time

sorry i forgot to put the reason i want to change software in the first place

basicly one i got my films on to disk when i watched them there was green squares apearing on the screen when there was a lot of action going on and sometime the screen moved with a stutter (like a milisecond) as if it was going frame by frame with a delay.

might not be a big deal but it kinda frustrates me as everyone knows its a lengthy process getting the final producr

funkysnair, if you're trying to rip a commercial DVD to your hard drive, no matter how you do it, it's illegal. And that means it's against forum rules to discuss it.

Okay. Where do you get films on DVD if they're not on commercial discs? Are you trying to copy a film to your hard drive from say, a VCR or TV video output? If you're trying to copy a movie from a VCR, if there's Macrovision on it, that too is illegal. If you're trying to copy a film from a television broadcast, THAT'S legal.

I do believe that the only movies that you can legally copy are those off the air or those you make yourself with a video camera.

so say i download lost from an online source and that file has already been on tv in this country and is downloaded in a file type that cannot be copy'd onto dvd without all these other methods?

thats all i want to do, to catch up on all the lost episodes that i have missed but i want to watch them on my 37inch lcd tv rather than 19inch monitor....

i am no crook

The DMCA clearly states you can back up your own personal copies of digital media. It is in renegotiations right now, and the media companies want you to now buy a license for every time you change formats.

However, there are tons of shades of grey right now, and I suspect it will be changing a lot as technology changes as well.

that is still illegal even though the show has been broadcast!!

it certainly does not!, quite the opposite!

edit: I should have made it clear, that while my above comment hold true, there is considerable debate, flux, and confusion around the whole area.

Sorry, I meant the original DMCA that came out in the 90s. I did a college report on the whole thing. It ended up being 17 pages long because of the huge amount of pointless info I had to kind of made a point, but was still full of grey areas.
