Converting VOB files

Right i just recorded a ps3 game with my dvd recorder and then put the cd on in the computer and i converted the file into AVI by using the SUPER programme , i tried to play this video and it said i needed the right codec so i downloaded the DivX codec and played it, it was upside down when i watched it. Then i tried to save it as a movie file on movie maker and it was the right way round now but it lagged alot and lost alot of quality. What am i doing wrong, shall i use a different converter or what all i want to do is watch the vid maybe edit it and put it on dailymotion , Help plz

if you say it's a VOB file why not get a nomal dvd player program like Power DVD 7 to watch it

when its still the VOB file(without converting it) when i watch it on power dvd it is great quality and then if i convert it to MPEG-1 i lose all the quality, is then anyway to keep the exact quality but just change the file format so you can put it on dailymotion.com
