cooling for 7300se/7200gs video card...

My son has a 7300se/7200gs video card and it runs way hot. What would be a good cooler to put on it? I've looked on newegg but not sure what to get.

between 80 and 90 degrees Celcius. My son is a 12 yr old and not that high of a gamer, YET!!!

I would get him a 7600GT or something... They're only ~$90 now... Instead of putting a new cooler on it..

It originally didn't come with a cooler just the heatsink. I don't have the money to spend on a new card. Card is only a few months old anyway.

You can also get "PCI coolers". Basically a fan that fits in the open expansion slots. That might work...

Very basic, no mods required for the card. As long as the card has no fan, it should work pretty well. You could even maybe put some tape around the fan/card to help keep the air right around the heatsink and perhaps increase efficiency :P

Thanks, I forgot all about those. I think i'll give that a try first.

just leave it, they are meant to get hot, and when it finally dies ina few years you can get a new card with the 20$ you saved.

That's not too bad, my card gets into the 80's during gaming (a x850pro running off a huge passive heatsink). It's not really worth the trouble of getting a new heatsink.

The pci slot exhaust fans above are really inexpensive and do help! I have one installed on my 7300LE and it works great! temperature dropped 5 degrees C on average which is pretty good! I would highly recommend one, I use them in most of the systems I build, even if the video card has its own fan, these things do help! just put it in the PCI slot right under the card, it'll suck out plenty of hot air.
