cooling unit?

for a person who doesnt turn off his computer often is cooling unit a must? and if so how much should I expect to pay on cooling if i were to build a computer that will be used for long long duration of time.

I don't turn off my computer, and I only use the stock cooler. It's not that big of a deal...if I were you I would use the stock cooler, but monitor your temps for a few weeks, and if they are too high, buy another HSF.
 
Well, I have had my computer on for about 4 months straight now with the stock cooler. I would advise getting an aftermarket cooler however because some stock coolers aren't sufficient when cooling a processor under full load. I would say look to spend about $80-$100 on a new heatsink and some quite fans. You may only spend $40 however, but it all depends on your case, CPU and other components in your computer.
