Hi,

My cpu and motherboard broke on me and now i have a new one with a new hard drive as well
and i wanted to ask if its possible to hook up the old hard drive, wich is the same OS (windows 7), to my computer and be able to copy and paste the files to my new hard drive? (just like usb external hard drives do)
or do i need to do a whole procedure before i am able to do that?
hard drives are SATA

thanks in advance

hi
yes its a desktop and its really that easy?? can i do this while the pc is still on or is it a better idea to shut it off first?
i thought you need to change bios settings so you have a master and slave drive and also needed formatting...wich is totaly against my plan

You need to do this while machine is off. These are sata drives not IDE drives which don't need master/slave setup. All you need to do is enter bios to make sure correct hdd is set for first boot.
