Copying LP's to computer

What would I need to copy LP's to my laptop....Simple instruction please. Yes I'm an old gezzer that has some can't find music that I want to put on CD.....

Well some sound cards have an input via mic port or RCA ports. Just use the audio out ports from the Record Player (or reciever) and pipe it into your sound card... that is, if you've got inputs on your computer. If you dont, you may have to get a new sound card. The software that comes with the hardware should suffice for recording.

You'll need somethin like this if you don't have RCA jacks on your sound card.

Don't laugh, I was in a record store ( actually CD store / music store, what ever) these 2 girls an isle over were looking at a Paul McCartney CD, the one girl turned to the other girl and exclaimed " ...did you know he was in a group called the Beatles.." the other girl said "...really.?..." I felt old..
