Core 2 Extreme Temperatures?

Hi there

I just build a computer about a week ago and would like to know what the highest temperature that the Core 2 Extreme processors can handle. Currently im checking the Hardware monitoring and I seen the highest temps between 50c - 55c. The components I put in there are as follows:

CPU: Core 2 Extreme 2.93
Mother Board: Intel D975XB2
RAM: 4GB
Video Card: Nvidia BFG 8800 GTX
PSU: 700 Watts
Hard Drives: 300 GB SATA, 500 GB SATA
Fans: One 92mm front, One 120mm back

I'm going to try to cut some holes and add two more 92mm fans to the side to try to keep the temperature below at least 50c.

Under load the highest should be 65C, if it gets higher then that I would really start worrying, and I would not let it get about 70C load.

Is it running 50-55C load or idle? And is it still running at stock?

It was running at 55c load before I change the fans today. I just replaced the 120mm in the back because it wasn't running at the speeds it was supposed to be running at. Before the one I replaced was spinning at less than 1000 RPM with this new one I installed it's running at 2600 RPM. Now the highest temp on load it's around 52c so the new fan help it cool down a bit.

my c2 extreme runs at 40 C idle with an ambient room temp of 69 F

EDIT: We have almost the same computers except you have more ram and the newest gpu.
Load Test: 47 C

I spent half today modifying my case to circulate more air inside. I was able to change my front 92mm fan and replaced it with a much faster 120mm. Also I drilled a hole on the side and added a 80mm fan which you can see in my photos below. With the new fans installed I got it to run about 42c idle and 49c load so it made a big improvement from the 55c it used to run at.

It cost me just under $3000, I waited for the last two months to get most of the components on sale from fry's and from other stores.
