Core 2 Quad or Core 2 Duo

Do the Core 2 Duo CPU's generally perform better for gaming than the Core 2 Quad CPU's? Also how many games are supported by quad core processors?

I would go with a quad core for future proofing, they generally clock pretty good. Alot of people are going to say that the E8400 is best for gaming, but personally i would take a nice Q6600 or a Q9450 over any of the core 2 duos. They q6600 and Q9450 both clock exceptionally well, i love my Q9450, and im sure that most people who have a quad core feel the same way.

quad core are a lot better for everything, the Q6600 won't OC as much as the E8400 will, but it is still better :D

Id still recommend the Q9450 over the Q9550/Q9650, they are not worth the extra cost for the small amount of speed, unless of course he doesnt want to be overclocking, then thats a different story. Q9450/Q9550 is not like Q9300 vs Q9450 cuz they all have the same amount of cache, and all should clock about the same with decent cooling.

In less than a month the price of the Q9550 is supposed to drop to less than what a Q9450 is now,so that will probably be the most efficient buy I think.
