I think I am going to build another pc for media use, photoshop and maybe some gaming and am looking at these two processors. One costs slightly more (£50 here in uk) and I was wondering if there was much difference as I have been told its not worth it because the i3 can beat the i5 overclocked easily? Is this correct or shall I spend the extra and get the i5 660?

Why not +$5 only and get this one. This is better from i3 and all i5 family.

Pretty much any dual processor CPU will do a decent job. It would help if you'd be a bit more specific about the kinds of Photoshop projects you do. BTW
1. what kind of game you play?
2. Are you planing to OC?

Not worth £50 more. You're right the i3 clocks just as well. There is no major difference apart from hyperthreading which won't make much of a difference in real-world apps anyway IIRC.

EDIT: Forget that, they both have hyperthreading. No major difference, just branding and some gimmick technology built into the i5 as far as I can tell.
