Core i7 995

Wowee. I thought the next one was the 990X

argh. Hopefully though, the 980x will drop in price when 995 comes out

I might get the 980x..... in 5 years. :D I'll probably find a 970 ES on ebay sometime in the far future, and overclock the crap out of it because it'll only be worth $50.

I feel like this might be fake... anyone with me?

Seems that this CPU benchmark is creating a bit of discussion, and we always like a bit of mystery. So we started looking through our logs to see who might have sent in this result.

Seems the benchmark result came from a user at an IP address in Portland Oregon.

Of course Intel is in Portland as well, but they have their own IP address range, 134.134.x.x. And the number we logged wasn't in that range. So the benchmark probalby wasn't done from within Intel's Portland campus.

It was assigned baseline number 281909 when it got loaded up into our database (this means it was the 281,909th benchmark result in our database). You can use this number to search for the record and download the benchmark basline from inside of the PerformanceTest software (Menu item: Baseline / Install baseline from web ).

The motherboard used for the test was an Intel DX58SO. Which is consistent with it being a engineering sample (Intel often supply their own motherboards with their sample CPUs).

Still no reason to think it is a fake result however.

This was said by a guy on Passmark. If this is an Intel engineer I bet he'll get fired. :D

Unless it has something major over the 980/970(cores, cache) I don't see what the fuss is about. Can't you just overclock a 6 core cpu to 4ghz instead?

What are the differences from the 980?
Are there any motherboards to support it?
Is AMD going to make something similar to follow?
Will it come out next year?
Why do people make BM's of products that aren't out yet?

Clock Speed only probably
All 1366 Mobos
The X6 CPUs?
It might not even be real/It's not a big deal, there can't be much improvement over the 980X...
BMs?

Also, don't they make only one "Extreme Edition" per CPU line?
975 for Quad i7
980X for Hex i7
I'm pretty sure that there was a 965 extreme edition too. I hope this is real. This, along with the i5 680, both break 4GHz on turbo, right?
