hey, i havent looked into it much, but what is up with the new core i7? whats the difference. is it a quad core, or did they figure out 8 cores... haha probably not, but im just wondering. much faster???

The main difference is that each core has Hyperthreading built in, which means that each core can process more than one task at once. Great for extreme multi-tasking, not that much faster for most things though.

It is clock for clock faster than any of the previous generations. Plus i7 is nice because you can go with the x58 chipset that allows for sli or crossfire and outperforms Ati's and Nvidia's chipsets. More and more games will utilize the cores/threads in the future.

If you do not need to upgrade right now then wait. The i5's will be out this spring and by that time the i7's should be lower in price too.

huh. ok nice. ya i dont know if i want a new q6600 or what. i cant core i7 anyways thought. my mobo isnt compatible. i was just wondering. should i get a q6600 instead of e4500(now e2200)?

That is bizarre. Why did Intel decide to call their next release of processors i5?

I am hoping Intel refine their i7 processors to consume less power in the near future. They are 130 and 140 Watt processors currently. I hope they can bring it down to 95 Watt or lower.

Post the exact specifications of your motherboard MortonMan1 and we can help you find a processor that will be compatible with your motherboard.
