core speed changes?

You must have AMD's cool n quiet software enabled in the bios that will downclock the cpu when not needed to save on heat. It will speed it back up when needed though.

Yeah, if you want 4.5 ghz on idle, disable it.

There's no point to doing that though really because it will raise it's speed when needed. You're just generating extra heat that you don't need and wasting electricity. And noise.

The first thing I'll do when my fx 8350 arrives will be to disable cool 'n quiet :)
