Now that my computaer actually turns on, something else has happened:
It shows the Acer logo (OEM Bios) and then whether i hit delete for setup or f12 for boot menu, or leave the system to boot by its self,

i now get this showing up on the screen: 1.80(x9

just before that appears the computer beeps twice. I think the bios has become corrupted...

Yes, i removed the battery and pressed the power button about 50 times.

If the bios is corrupted, would it be possible to flash it with a new version from a USB stick?

Screw it, i'm sending it back for exchange. Problem solved.

Yeah if its still under warrenty....shove it back in their face and let them deal with it.:D

Thats what i do....if its faulty now it goes back ;)

Yeah i only got it today. 30 day standard warranty ftw! :)
If it dies when i only just get it i tend to get annoyed. it only turned on once. i think i new bios chip would fix it... but would i bios flash do it? i mean im not going to but would it?

you can't really flash a corrupt bios generally. Because it is the bios that has to send you to the CD or flash device or whatever you have the update stored on it needs to be fully functioning to find and utilize the device to update it. You can do it sometimes, depends what part is corrupt or the severity of it i suppose.

Ok then, so it won't always be possible... but i heave located th bios chip on the board, it looks like it could be easily replaced but finding the right chip would be the hard part. Anyway, its finding its way back the person i bought it from off ebay. Strange, this my first dead mobo when i have bought 10+ for general computer builds, but when i build a gaming computer it has to die...

Some Gigabyte motherboards have two BIOSes a main and a backup. Pretty cool feature for common BIOS flashers.

That is a great bios feature, too bad my mobo lacks it. Anyway, the board was sent for testing yesterday.
