Corrupted Files after reformat

I reformated my computer a number of times a few days ago and it seems that files on my otherharddrive that was not reformatted became corrupted. I was wondering if this was common. Additionally I do not have SP 1 installed which means that my computer cannot support a harddrive over like 80 gb or something like that. The Harddrive that has the files on it is 200gb. Could the reason that it's all screwed up be that it currently can't support an hdrive over 80gb and if I install SP1 everything will go back to normal. Thanks.

The other drive should still be intact. Formatting the drive (assumed) with the OS should not affect an independent data drive. Presumably you had SP1 installed before the format. I believe the limit without SP1 is 137Gb.

I would not do anything with the other drive until SP1 is installed. Writing new files could cause all sorts of problems because many of the existing files will not be seen.

I've written some new files but stopped after everything started going crazy. Hopefully it iwll be ok when I install SP1
