Corsair A70 CPU Cooler

I have the Corsair A70 CPU Cooler: This
However, it comes with two fans, and if I have both of them on, two RAM slots are covered, which would cause me to be able to only use 1 stick of RAM. Would it be okay if I just used one fan? If I do that, it seems to be pretty similar to the A50. I have an Intel Core i7 2600 for a CPU if it matters.
Thanks and God Bless!

The fan you would need to remove would be the one intaking air to the cooler, so you would not want to remove that one.

You could either move the fan up a little or move the RAM to the 2nd and 4th slots. There would be no performance decrease using the 2nd and 4th slots.

I have an Intel dz68bc motherboard, and in the product guide on page 41, it talks about various RAM configurations (using slots 2 and 4 not one) and says that "All other memory configurations will result in single channel memory operation." So can I not use slots 2 and 4? Should I just use 1 stick of RAM and put the second fan on? Thanks and God Bless!

Right now, with one RAM stick in, you're running single-channel memory. The 3 ways to run in dual-channel would be 2 sticks in slots 1 & 3, two sticks in slots 2 & 4, or 4 sticks in all 4 slots. Right now, I'm using slots 2 & 4 because of my CPU cooler, also. It is running in dual-channel memory.

The product guide says to use slots 1 and 2.
From closest to the CPU cooler to farthest away, the slots go 3142

Another thing, if other CPU coolers only use one fan, why couldn't/wouldn't this one work with only one fan? Thanks and God bless!

What exact motherboard do you have?

The reason is that one fan will be sucking air into the cooler and thus cooling the heatsink. This would be the one facing your RAM. The other one sucks air away from your heatsink and out the back via the outtake fan on your case. If you were to remove the fan sucking air into your heatsink (the one facing your fans) it will get hot.

Apparently I missed the part where you said "From closest to the CPU cooler to farthest away, the slots go 3142"

So even in slots 1 and 2, the CPU fan still interferes? Only choice is to move the fan up a little. It shouldn't affect performance significantly.

Yes, the fan covers slots 3 and 1. Also, the fan I believe just slides on to the CPU Cooler, so how would I move it up?

The fans slide into the bracket that attaches to the heatsink, I believe. You'll have to find someway to slide the bracket up. I'm not too familiar with the cooler, so I can't help much.

Hello again. With only the one fan, my CPU temperature is peaking at 42 degrees Celsius, usually less than 30 degrees. Do those temperatures seem acceptable?
Thanks and God bless!

You're fine, the red zone is like 70+ degrees, you want to be under 60, so peaking at 42 everyday gives you some good room, although you might wanna run prime 95 for about and hour and see where it goes up to.
