Corsair Dominator really much better than regular RAM?

Heatsinks and fans that come with it make it extra special - perhaps some higher end materials or a higher bin requirements.

Is it worth double or triple price - Not to me. I've been using G-skill for 2 PC's just fine = and I have my G-skill overclocked to 1600 without a fan. Maybe if you have a superhigh end performance PC - pushed to the max of it's capabilities - it might have some benefits - but I can't see myself every paying that kindof dough for a PC - even if I had a pile of money wanting to be spent.

Is it worth the extra cost? It depends on what it is worth to you. If I gave you the Pepsi challenge (or anyone really) that had two identical systems side by side but one had generic RAM over Corsair RAM I would say most people could not even tell the difference.
If you are into extreme over clocking and want to reduce bottle necks and like to heat sink and fan cool your RAM then, I'd say it may be worth it. When I built my system last year I did it with 4Gig of Corsair RAM, not because I thought it was better but because it was on sale and the same price as regular RAM and it came with the heat sink/fan attachment just in case I ever felt the need to over clock.
Look at their warranty too, I believe their warranty is life time, which is a good thing considering RAM can go bad due to any kind of power spike in your computer.

I paid $280 for my Dominator 1600's in January, and I didn't get a fan...
I purchased a 4 gig kit and mine can with a fan and a heat sink thing you attach over your RAM slots. I looked at it and thought something could possibly short out on those metal contacts so I decided not to put it over my RAM. Plus, they just snap over your ram slot's ends, which doesn't look all that secure on there.
I think it is ultimately a marketing scheme to be honest. I grabbed my RAM during the holiday sale last year and got it dirt cheap.
I got this RAM - for 85 bucks.
