i have an asus a8n-sli premium motherboard and i had 2x512 corsair xms 3200c2pt in it. i purchased a pair of 2x1024 corsair xms 3200 c2pt and when i try to run all 4 sticks in my mb it wont boot unless under complete default settings in bios. but, under these settings, im getting very week timings which is nothing close to the 2-3-3-6 timings both pairs can do. i know that both pairs are capable of these timing because they run fine if i just use one pair or the other. but when all four are in, it wont run right. could it be that you cant pair corsair memory up like this? or what could be the problem?

I would run the pair of 1gb dimms to see a 2gb total with each dimm set in each channel. There is obviously some conflict between the two pairs. How did you install the dimms on the board; two 1gb on the A primary channel and the two 512s on the secondary?, was it reversed with both 512s on the primary?, or did you mix one of each on both the A and B slots?
no, i installed it properly, it was the two 1gigs on the primary A channels, and then it was the 2 512mb sticks on the black, or B channels. and yes, i tried the voltage at 2.75 and it did the same thing. is it possible that even though its the same exact memory, it wont work to run 2 pairs of memory id dual? and if thats true, then would i have to get another set of 2x1024 corsair just to use all 4 of my memory slots?

You don't need all of the sticks to be the same; only the two dimms in the same bank have to be identical. Have you tried running just the 2 1GB sticks?
All you are going to need for the next few years anyways is 2gb unless you are planning to get into CAD or some other engineering programs where there is a large demand for memory. If you talk to most people that build their own gaming cases you will find it rare when someone goes over that. XP itself maxes out at 4gb. Your best performance value plus setting the 512s aside as spare memory is to run the two 1gb dimms.
I used to run into this with 98 where you had to edit the autoexec.bat and add a few lines there when going over 512nb of memory. Even on the latest boards out people will run either 1gb or 2gb total depending on budget. If I planned to go over 2gb I would go with a board that accepted 2gb not 1gb dimms to see 4gb not 2gb on two dimms for two channels rather then four 1gb dimms.
While mixing sizes of the exact same type will still without generally seeing problems The larger dimms see a smoother running machine. That was seen when going from two 512s of performance memory to the two 1gb dimms of value ram now used. No ocing involved.
