Corsair 550

I'm changing my ps to non-modular and a bit shorter. This one's 140mm D instead of the 150mm I currently have.
It's for the sig. and in the end it will have:
4 - hdd's
2 - opticals
2 - 80mm / 2 - 120mm case fans.
1 - GPU no bigger than what the CF guide recommeds for 500w.
I'm thinking about this one.

Can I get some recommendations here?
Has Corsair changed the quality on this ^ model?
Do I need the extra 50ish watts for headroom?
Other models in that price range or about 10$ more?
(non modular - no deeper than 140mm)

With my case I will be able to manage the cables better w/ o modular.
