I think IP here is integrated production, SoC is obviously System on Chip

I imagine that SoC is correct, but I doubt that IP is referring to Integrated Production as that has to do with farming... unless I'm missing something.
This Corporation 's work is design ICs type ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) like chips used in cell phone, like router ... just want to get the best understanding why they say: "off the shelf" IP is not always the best fit ???
