Hello, im new to this site. I just have a problem i need sorting out.

I have just installed a new 250gb sata hard drive with no problems and the drive works fine.
But now the computer is not detecting my cd-rw and dvd-rw. All leads are in correctly and it is definatly a problem from the hard drive.
The drivers are up to date.

Could someone please help me out here. Thanks.

How can you be so certain that its a problem with the Hard Drive.... Anyway, when you PC is booting up go into BIOS and do the auto detet harddrives thingy. Do it for all 4 IDE channels, save and exit, reboot, startup and see what happens.

hmmm

Checked the bios, and all ide channels are already set to auto-detect.
It is definatly a problem with the hard drive because the cd-roms were being detected before I installed the hard drive. Any other ideas mate?

sorted it out, i had just slightly dislodged the ide cable on the motherboard end.
all working perfectly now.
