Could router be issue?

hey guys, first post here! hopefully quick question: i have the versalink 327w router/modem that i got from centurytel, although i believe that verizon uses it as well. from what i have heard, it is total CRAP! anyway, we have an 11mb connection, yet i have noticed that the max i have ever been able to download is 1.3mb/s. when i go to speedtest.net, it confirms me having 11mb/s. is the reason i am only getting 1.3mb/s because of the router/modem? let me know if any additional information is needed! thanks!

what you're looking at is the difference between bits and bytes. You may have an 11 megabit connection which translates to 1.3 or 1.4 megabytes per seconds. So you're actually getting your max speed. There are 8 bits in a byte. If you do the math it comes out about right.
