Could XP record from Soundcard on a Foxconn mobo?

Dear Everyone.

OK, I'm downgrading to XP because my music software flat don't like 7 not even in XP mode. Thing IS, I didn't realise I could only record sounds in 7 because of WASAPI, which I'd never heard of till I tried recording sounds in XP and nothing could find a mixer (which apparently doesn't exist). I tried a virtual soundcard, got a BSOD twice and ditched it. If that's me being stupid (probably) I'll tell you how I set the virtual soundcard up and you tell me what I did wrong.

It's got PCIe slots. If I bought a for-real soundcard, would XP be able to record What U Hear from the soundcard (so I can play stuff IN and record it NOT so I can rip off You Tube ad infinitum) or would the motherboard not having a mixer and XP not having WASAPI mean that's still not going to happen? I flat wasn't expecting this problem when I downgraded!

Setup: Windows XP SP3 (legit, code and everything) Realtek IDT High Definition Audio Codec, Foxconn ADA 1.00, 4gig RAM, nearly a terabyte hard drive spare. Plenty of RAM for what I do and XP can't see any more anyway, can it?

Yours puzzledly

Chris.

Dear Agent Smith et al.
OK, so another phrase I'd never heard of and had to google. Is the Axus D2X PCIe Soundcard up to the job, that's the one I've got my eye on on Ebay with the bidding ending on Sunday, he's selling it for £16 thus far, or won't that work either?

Tried anything2mp3, beat it straight outta the box with this link: https://soundcloud.com/search?q=Jeff Johnson and Brian Dunning

Can see the tracks on the page, anything2mp3 can't download them. However, I've discovered Video Download Helper in Firefox finds them just fine. I don't think they test these download sites too well, you know, never had much luck with any of them.

Yours hopefully

Chris.
