I have Sprint DSL 5Mb/640Kb internet, a Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G router, and two pc's behind the router that are used to play Counter-Strike. The Linksys router was just recently installed. Before, a linux box was doing all of my routing for me and both computers had zero trouble with Counter-Strike. But since replacement of that router (with the Linksys WRT54G), I have been experiencing major problems:
The internet will be working fine, i.e. I can browse, ping, whatever. I open up counter-strike and search for servers. I can usually find and join the first server I try. I'll play for a bit. But when I am done with that first server and I disconnect, things go haywire. I'll click to join another game and the game info window will show that the latency to that server is skyrocketing. It goes from say 30ms, to 300ms, to 1500ms or so, and eventually times out. It does this with any server I try to join from here on out. Also at this point, I have no internet on that pc. Pings to anywhere timeout, I can't browse, etc. After either waiting a few minutes or power cycling the router, I have internet connectivity back. This is getting frustrating. It does it on two completely different computers with totally different hardware setups.
